Each year, the American Red Cross responds immediately to more than 60,000 disasters, including house or apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made disasters. Red Cross disaster relief focuses on meeting people's immediate emergency disaster-caused needs including shelter, food, health and mental health services.

All Red Cross assistance is given free of charge, made possible by the generous contribution of people's time, money, and skills. The Red Cross is an independent, humanitarian, voluntary organization, not a government agency.

The American Red Cross provides immediate emergency relief from natural disasters. Call 706-323-5614 as soon as possible if you need:

  • Immediate help for those with disaster-caused needs such as food, clothing, shelter, prescription medications and emotional support
  • Emergency communications between Family members who have lost contact due to a disaster
  • Referrals to other community agencies that can help with emergency needs
  • Educational speakers, programs, materials and tips that can help you prepare for and minimize the harmful effects of disaster
  • Training for those who wish to become a Red Cross disaster volunteer at the local, national and/or international level.
