The American Red Cross is a volunteer-driven humanitarian organization. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available at the West Central Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross. The first step in becoming a Red Cross volunteer is to attend a volunteer orientation.

Current Volunteer Wish List:

 

Pet First Aid Instructor:

We would like veterinarian (or retired vet) to teach Pet First Aid course. Otherwise, there is a 5 day training to become an instructor. Train to teach a 4-hour course!
 

Babysitting Instructors:

Become an instructor for babysitting, an all-day class where 11 to 15 year olds learn basic baby care, lifesaving skills, and mediation skills to make their babysitting experience a good one. Training consists of a 1-day orientation in Atlanta or a self-study.

 

Mental Health Volunteers for Disaster Services:

Trained Mental Health professionals needed to respond to needs of disaster victims. Psychologists, counselors, and social workers are welcome to inquire about this volunteer opportunity.

 

Blood Services Volunteers:

Greet, register donors, and provide snacks in the canteen at the Blood Center or mobile drives drives throughout Columbus.

 

Aquatics Instructors:

Just a few days training will result in Water Safety Instructor certification. You must be 17 years old, a strong swimmer, and be proficient in all strokes.

 

Disaster Action Team Members ( DAT ) :

A DAT team members will provide initial assistance to anyone whose basic life-needs are compromised due to a disaster. A Disaster Action Team member responds to all local disasters including but not limited to fires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, and storms.
